La cantautrice britannica di fama internazionale Emeli Sandé annuncia “When someone loves you”, il nuovo brano che vanta la collaborazione con il pluri-vincitore Grammy, compositore, produttore, arrangiatore e chitarrista NILE RODGERS, disponibile ovunque dal 1 settembre 2022.
“I feel greatly privileged to have created with Nile Rodgers. He’s such a legendary musician and producer, a true icon in music. His humility and passion inspired me so much in the making of the music and I feel that the excitement and positivity in the studio transmits through the song. I’m very proud of ‘When Someone Loves You’ and I hope it brings joy to each listener.”, ha affermato Emeli.
E Rodgers ha aggiunto: “I’ve loved working with Emeli over the years as she is such a special talent but I’ve never seen her as happy and full of life as she is right now. She has found herself and it’s beautiful to behold.”.
Il singolo, presentato in anteprima il 1 settembre al Breakfast Show della BBC Radio 2, precede l’esibizione dal vivo del duo che si terrà a Leeds, al Temple Newsam, il 18 settembre.
A maggio 2022 Emeli Sandé ha pubblicato il suo acclamato album “Let’s Say For Instance”, disponibile per lo streaming e il download tramite Chrysalis Records.
L’album ad oggi ha superato i 20 milioni di streaming e vanta le collaborazioni con F A L L E N, Naughty Boy, Booker T, Ollie Green, Henri Davies e altri. “Let’s Say For Instance” ha segnato la sua prima uscita su un’etichetta indipendente e una nuovissima era del grande talento di Emeli dopo un decennio sul palco e sulle onde radio.
L’album contiene i singoli “There Isn’t Much”, “Brighter Days”, “Look What You’ve Done”, “Family”e la focus track “Ready To Love”.
In Let’s say for instance Emeli esplora un nuovo territorio musicale attraverso suoni caratterizzati da sfumature di musica classica, disco, nostalgico R&B e altro ancora. Tematicamente parlando, l’ispirazione per l’album ha assunto molte forme: dall’innamorarsi perdutamente in “July 25th” e “September 8th”, all’incoraggiamento per una maggiore fiducia in se stessi in “Yes You Can”, descrivendo il testo come “the light at the end of the tunnel”, scavando più a fondo oltre la rappresentazione spesso semplificata della salute mentale e della depressione, fino a “Another One”, che ha come argomento l’uguaglianza razziale.
Con pieno controllo creativo sembvra proprio che Emeli si sia liberata dalle aspettative, mettendo in mostra le sue capacità olistiche di cantautrice, produttrice e interprete in un modo nuovo e incredibilmente versatile. Insomma, “an ode to resilience, rebirth, and renewal”, come lei stessa afferma.
